Ready to feed your dog the food they evolved to eat?

Ancestral Raw makes the evolutionary diet simple, whole, human-grade, freeze-dried raw, plus the know-how to feed it. Just add water, and give your dog the real food they were built to thrive on.

Where to next

Pick your starting point.

How it works

Three steps to a real raw bowl

1
Pick your raw

Meals, mixes, toppers or snacks.

2
Add water

1 part food to 4 parts warm water.

3
Serve

Soft, ready, real raw.

Switching from kibble or cooked? Introduce raw gradually over a few days, replacing part of the usual meal and slowly increasing the raw portion. Raw by default, but if your vet recommends warming or cooking, follow their advice.

Whole-prey ratios

What goes in the bowl.

Raw meaty bones 60%Offal 15%Vegetables 10%Additional foods 10%Fruit 5%

A starting framework, not a fixed formula. Proportions shift with the dog.

Life stage

Growing pups need more energy, bone and organ. Seniors need less fat.

Size and breed

Large and giant breed pups need tighter calcium control during growth.

Activity

Working dogs carry more fat and organ, proportionally less plant matter.

Body condition

Adjust the amount fed first. Change the ratios second.

Percentages by weight. Raw meaty bones means whole meaty bones, so muscle meat sits within that 60%. Liver is about half the offal share.

Ratios per the published BARF model of Dr Ian Billinghurst, veterinary surgeon and nutritionist, founder of BARF.
Mix and match by life stage

Feed for their stage of life.

Puppies, adults and older dogs have different needs. Mix and match proteins, toppers and meals to suit, and feed to a lean, healthy weight.

Puppies & young dogs
Growing fast
Growing dogs need more food for their size and smaller, more frequent meals. Feed to a lean, healthy weight and adjust as they grow. Introduce new proteins one at a time, and lean on gentle single proteins and complete meals while their gut settles.
Adult dogs
Steady and varied
Feed to hold a lean, healthy weight, usually across one or two meals a day. Rotate proteins through the week for variety. Keep organs to roughly 5 to 10% of the diet, and chews and snacks to no more than around 15%.
Senior & older dogs
Easy and gentle
Older dogs are often less active, so feed to hold a healthy weight and keep meals easy to eat. Rehydrated raw is soft and simple to chew. Smaller, more frequent meals can help, and keep the proteins varied.

Note: Gentle heat used to dehydrate or air-dry denatures proteins and degrades heat-sensitive nutrients, so both are cooked, not raw. Freeze-drying never cooks the food, so the raw molecular structure stays intact.

Mix-and-match feeding guidance developed with Dr Ian Billinghurst, veterinary surgeon and nutritionist, founder of BARF.
100g Ancestral Raw = 400g of fresh raw produce

Low-temperature freeze-drying removes the moisture, not the nutrition. Essential nutrients, calories and texture stay locked in, feather-light to carry, and raw again in minutes.

Real raw. Made easy.
